OPINION
Google has officially crossed the line from tech giant to war profiteer and propaganda arm of apartheid. A new report reveals that the company signed a $45 million, six-month contract with Benjamin Netanyahu’s office to flood the internet with state-sponsored disinformation — denying famine in Gaza and attacking the UN. One of the centerpiece videos, bought and boosted with Google’s help, falsely insists “there is food in Gaza,” while millions starve.
This is not just unethical. It is complicity in crimes against humanity. Let’s be clear: starvation is being used as a weapon. Independent UN bodies, NGOs, and journalists have all documented catastrophic hunger across Gaza. Babies dying of malnutrition. Parents forced to boil weeds for their children. Yet Google — with its unlimited resources and global influence — chose to take millions in blood money to help Israel convince the world these reports are lies.
This isn’t just false advertising. It is propaganda in the service of war crimes. By manipulating narratives, Google is actively undermining humanitarian relief efforts and protecting Israel from accountability for mass atrocities.
A Pattern of Corporate Betrayal
This is not an isolated scandal. It follows Project Nimbus, the $1.2 billion contract providing AI and cloud services to the Israeli military. Employees warned the deal would enable surveillance, repression, and even targeting of Palestinians. They protested, staged sit-ins, and begged leadership to cancel it.
Google’s response? Mass firings. Dozens of workers were sacked simply for opposing complicity in apartheid. Those who dared to raise their voices against war profiteering were crushed under corporate boot.

Google’s Hands Are Bloody
Google can no longer pretend to be neutral. It has made a calculated decision: side with power, money, and occupation — even if it means silencing its own workers, deceiving the global public, and helping a government accused of genocide rewrite history in real time.
No amount of PR spin about “connecting people” or “AI for good” can wash off the blood. Google is enabling propaganda that sustains siege, starvation, and mass killing. That is not a side effect. It is the business model.
Time to Hold Google Accountable
We must abandon the illusion that Google is a benevolent innovator shackled by tough ethical dilemmas. It is a multinational power player making cold-blooded calculations. In Gaza, those calculations translate into starvation, displacement, and death.
As Amnesty International warned this week in another context, the targeting of Palestinian civil society is an assault on justice itself. Google has chosen to join that assault—not as a bystander, but as a contractor. Google had a choice: stand with truth and human rights, or take a $45 million check to help cover up famine. The company made its decision.
