The occupation authorities forced Jerusalemite citizen Omar Muhammad Halasa to demolish his house himself in the town of Jabal al-Mukaber in occupied Jerusalem, after notifying him of a final demolition decision from the occupation municipality, under the pretext of building without a permit.
Halsa explained that the house consists of two bedrooms, a kitchen, a bathroom, and a living room, and that his family of six lives there. He pointed out that the municipality threatened him with carrying out the demolition by its crews and imposing a fine of up to 70,000 shekels if he did not carry out the demolition himself.
According to the Jerusalem Governorate, the house is 60 square meters in size, has been standing for about 20 years, and is inhabited by the husband, his wife, and their four children.
