Morgan Ortagus, the former Fox News pundit turned State Department spokesperson, has built her career on being the polished face of America’s most hardline Middle East policies. She converted to Judaism in 2011, a choice she has woven into her public persona, and from there positioned herself as one of Washington’s most reliable pro-Israel operators.
She wears that allegiance — quite literally. In Beirut, she appeared in official meetings with a Star of David ring glinting on her hand. In Washington, she speaks with the same shine: a diplomat who doesn’t just defend Israel as policy, but wears Zionism as jewelry.

Today, that alignment hit its bloodiest note: Ortagus stood at the United Nations and cast the U.S. veto that killed a resolution demanding an immediate ceasefire in Gaza — a ceasefire that humanitarian groups say is the only way to stop famine, bombing, and mass civilian death.
The resolution text, drafted by the elected 10 members of the 15-member council, would also have demanded the immediate, dignified and unconditional release of all hostages held by Hamas and other groups. It received 14 votes in favor. It was the sixth time the U.S. had cast a veto in the Security Council over the nearly two-year war between Israel and Palestinian militants Hamas.
“Famine has been confirmed in Gaza – not projected, not declared, confirmed”
– Denmark’s U.N. Ambassador Christina Markus Lassen told the council before the vote.
A Career in Alignment with Zionism
From defending Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital to championing Israeli sovereignty over the occupied Golan Heights, Ortagus has never wavered. She delivered speeches to Christians United for Israel (CUFI), branding America’s relationship with Israel “special” and urging unwavering support.
She has attacked the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement as “delegitimizing Israel” and decorated her social media with slogans like “Am Yisrael Chai.” Every gesture is carefully calibrated: a diplomat whose identity and politics are inseparable.
Ortagus has made a career out of weaponizing symbolism. In Lebanon, the Star of David ring during official meetings wasn’t subtle — it was a signal, interpreted by Arab media as deliberate provocation. Another viral photo — Ortagus grinning as she held a rocket with Lebanese soldiers — was received as tone-deaf at best, inflammatory at worst.
These are not accidents. They are deliberate acts of branding of diplomat performing loyalty to Israel for a domestic audience while undermining credibility abroad.
The Ceasefire Veto: Policy Meets Catastrophe
On September 19, 2025, the United States — with Ortagus as its envoy — vetoed a UN resolution calling for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza. The text also demanded the release of hostages, but crucially, it called for a halt to Israel’s relentless bombing campaign.going blockade and bombardment.”
Palestine’s envoy to the UN denounced the US veto, saying it stopped the Council from acting as civilians face genocide. Riyad Mansour said the resolution was the “bare minimum that humanity, legality and morality dictate,” but its rejection left Palestinians unprotected.
“It is deeply regrettable and painful that it has been blocked, preventing the Security Council from playing its rightful role in the face of these atrocities and protecting civilians in the face of genocide”
– Riyad Mansour, addressing the Council
An Insider in the Pro-Israel Machine

Beyond the UN, Ortagus runs Polaris National Security, a think tank that parrots Republican hawk talking points. She shares stages with Jared Kushner, embedding herself deeper into the pro-Israel echo chamber where lobbyists, donors, and policy elites reinforce each other’s agendas.
But while Ortagus delivers polished speeches in New York and Washington, Gaza is collapsing. Reports describe children dying from dehydration, families digging for food beneath rubble, hospitals without electricity. Today’s veto wasn’t just another procedural move. It was a decision to keep that suffering going.
Morgan Ortagus is not a neutral envoy. She is a political actor whose conversion, career, and jewelry all serve one purpose: to signal unwavering allegiance to Zionism. Every speech, every photo-op, every veto deepens that brand. To her allies, she is proof of America’s “unshakable bond” with Israel. To her critics, she is Washington’s pro-Israel insider — a woman who wears Zionism on her hand and votes it at the UN, even as Gaza burns.
