Avraham Burg, who also headed the Jewish Agency and World Zionist Organization, called for a million Jews to file an appeal to the ICJ (International Court of Justice) over war crimes in Gaza: ‘This is not a rejection of our people; it is a defense of its soul.
Avraham “Avrum” Burg, a former Speaker of the Israeli Knesset, urged on Friday for one million Jews around the world to join a collective legal action at the International Court of Justice, accusing Israel of committing crimes against humanity in Gaza.

In a Substack post titled “Jews – Rebel. Now!”, Burg wrote:
“We need one million Jews—less than ten percent of the global Jewish population—to file a joint appeal to the International Court of Justice in The Hague. A collective legal complaint against the State of Israel for crimes against humanity committed in our name and under the false banner of our Jewish identity.”
Burg, 70, served as Speaker of the Knesset from 1999 to 2003 and earlier led both the Jewish Agency and the World Zionist Organization. Once a senior figure in the Labor Party, he has since become one of Israel’s most prominent dissident voices, often warning that the country’s political leadership is undermining democratic principles and the moral foundations of Jewish tradition.
